In time for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, Paul Smith plays host to a limited edition collection of Vanhulsteijn bikes. The presentation’s centerpiece is the “Urushi” bicycle, which sees the brand’s high-quality craftsmanship combined with traditional Japanese techniques. A urushi lacquer—derived from the hardened sap of the Japanese lacquer tree—is combined with gold leaf and applied to nine limited edition bicycles for a one of a kind finish.

Prices are available upon request, and the bikes will be on display until April 27that Paul Smith Via Manzoni 30 in Milan.

Continuing our coverage of the Paul Smith 531 cycling collection, we hear from Mr Smith himself as he visits Grant Mosely, frame builder and owner of British bike maker Mercian. Continuing a long-standing relationship between the two (Paul Smith became a designer following a serious crash on a Mercian, the bike passed the test), you can now purchase a model made to the designer’s exact requirements, “the perfect non-bike, fixed gear, stripped down and all black.” Based in Derby, Mercian have been building custom steel-framed bikes by hand since 1946, see the process and hear more via Mr Porter.

大家都知道 PAUL SMITH 對單車的熱愛，現在來看看他的車衣COLLECTION吧~ 喔對了裡面還有一件是Victoria Pendleton 親手名的呦~~~好棒ㄋ~

Heading over to the studio of British designer Paul Smith, no surprise much shelf space is given over to various bits of cycling paraphernalia. Mr Smith is well-known for his obsession with all things two wheeled and has been lucky enough to be given signed jerseys from the likes of recent Olympic Champions Victoria Pendleton and Chris Hoy as well as Mark Cavendish and a whole host of Tour de France and Giro d’Italia riders. Some of his best pieces however are vintage wool shirts from championships past, check out his beautiful 1973 jersey previously worn by Felice Gimondi. More from the series here.

大家可能有所不知，著名的英國服裝設計師Paul Smith是自行車賽的big fans，他經常觀看男子自行車大賽，奧運會自行車選手Mark Cavendish也是他的好友，絕對是本屆奧運會自行車比賽的奪冠熱門人選，初步估計將有200萬人回來觀賽。Paul Smith近來就以自己這位好友為靈感，為The Isle of Man Post Office設計了一套倫敦奧運會紀念郵票，一共7張，顏色艷麗並印有Paul Smith獨特的色彩圖案，現在已經可以在其店鋪和網站上買到，售價約為3~50英鎊不等，熱愛集郵的人千萬別錯過！

Top UK fashion designer Sir Paul Smith, last seen here on a skateboard excursion, takes another design detour, this time through the Isle of Man Postal Service to complete the commissioned Paul Smith London 2012 Olympic Games Isle of Man Stamp Collection. The real labour of love in the seven stamps/seven games set is presumably the one for cycling (above), as it turns out: a) Sir Paul was intent on a cycling career until aspirations were extinguished by a road accident at age 17; b) cyclist Mark Cavendish, the “fastest man on two wheels” and a starting favorite in the high-profile 2012 Olympics Men’s Road Race event, is an Isle of Man good buddy of Sir Paul. Besides at the post office, the stamps, along with complementary postcards, are available as a collectible set.

現在起為已2個月，英國Harrods百貨跟設計師 Paul Smith合作了一個單車店在百貨公司的5樓，裡面的商品有Rapha + Paul Smith 的車衣等等產品呦~

Fancy London retailer Harrods has teamed with fancy British designer Paul Smith for a two-month pop up cycling shop on the fifth floor of the renowned department store. Three products are featured: Rapha + Paul Smith jerseys, printed t-shirts and made-to-order bikes form Condor, Brompton, Merican and Paris. Paul Smith grew up cycling and raced at the Breeston Cycling Club, and inside the back pocket of each jersey you will find a picture from Paul along with a quote about cycling. Well-heeled cyclists rejoice. (psfk)

Sir Paul Smith might be fashion’s biggest cycling fan. Long before he took up tailoring, Smith raced bikes, as a teenager in Nottingham, England. Though his competitive career ended early, after a bad accident when he was 16, his enthusiasm for the sport never wavered. A lover of cycling design, Smith has collaborated with Rapha on clothing and with Mercian on a limited line of cycles. Here, he offers sartorial tips for city cyclists.
