State Bicycle Co. “Galaxy” Series

A rider-developed fixed gear/single speed bicycle company based out of Arizona, State Bicycle Co. just released a special “Galaxy” series that features iridescent cranks and hubs. The “Galaxy” series is available in the brand’s “standard” models for $519 USD and 6061 “Black Label” model for $659 USD. While I can’t speak on the company’s standard models, I can however inform you that their “Black Label” model is absolutely fantastic.

I’m the proud owner of a Laguna Blue 6061 “Black Label” model and have been riding it for several months now. If you’ve never done business with State, there are a few things you should note. The bicycle will ship “90% assembled,” which means you will need to attach the handlebars, saddle, pedals, front wheels, and a few other minor parts, as well as adjusting, tightening, and tuning. I highly encourage your bicycle to be built by a professional. The bicycle will be safer and will ride drastically better when assembled and tuned properly – trust me.

As for the bike itself, the “Black Series” features a lightweight 6061 aluminum frame, Essor USA carbon fiber fork with full carbon fiber steer tube, SRAM S100 crankset, flip-flop hub and Pista race drop bars. The only thing I would recommend looking into if you’re interested in making a purchase from State is a supplementary high quality seat. The bike rides so smoothly that you’ll want to be on it more more often than not, so why not invest in some extra comfort?
