Depending on the event and the velodrome, track cycling can in many ways be a photographer's dream scenario. With various angles available, they can use any lens from an ultra-wide fisheye, to a 400mm and still capture the action. As well as this, they can use slave flashes to great effect (in Beijing, for example, flashes were not permitted). Here, photographer Hagen Hopkins has placed a flash in the track centre and shot from the top of the banking to create a fantastic shadow effect
